Bringing back the Smith's abandoned orchard adjacent to us.
Bringing back the Smith's abandoned orchard adjacent to us.
Upon being awarded a grant for the state's "Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin" program, we soon realized that we were going to need a lot more apples next year to keep up with our future cider production. We have now entered into agreements with several landowners around Bayfield to manage their trees for them, allowing us to harvest a good deal of their apples next fall. Our goal (and the reason we received the grant) is to convert abandoned apple orchards into single serve apple cider containers, which will then end up in various schools, hospitals and other institutions. Our crew is hard at work, fighting the elements of Northern Wisconsin winters to make this happen. Hope to see all of our fans this spring and summer, as we continue to revitalize the Bayfield Apple Company!
