Now we just hope those Connell Reds appreciate our trimming...
Now we just hope those Connell Reds appreciate our trimming...
After finishing up at the Smith orchard, our staff took on the daunting task of tying to revive the Connell Red trees at the Chequamegon Food Co-Op Farm. With our snow shoes afoot we worked diligently for more than a month, cleaning up the overgrown trees, minding not to remove too much and shock the trees. With our sales team picking up more accounts each week with both schools and hospitals alike, the addition of the late season variety should prove beneficial to both our fresh apple sales and our blended flavor in our cider. With more work to be done--planing new trees, transitioning to our organic management implement, and getting ready for the summer season--seeing the snow melt so early was almost a relief. Should be seeing those beautiful blossoms soon, and come fall hopefully all of our hard work will have paid off!!
