The Bayfield Apple Company orchard is located in the microclimate growing area of Bayfield, Wisconsin. The offshore Apostle Islands calm the lake's surface here allowing the water in the bay to warm in the summer. Prevailing westerly winds create an inversion over the warm water in the fall resulting in an extended growing season which is most noticeable when the Bayfield area's autumn colors peak much later than areas far south of here. Year round the land enjoys the clean fresh Lake Superior breezes making this a most comforting orchard growing atmosphere.
