Our New Storefront
Completed in time for Applefest, 2010, our new Apple Store is open for business! Full of light and rustic charm, the new store has plenty of space to showcase our orchard produce as well as work by local artisans.
The interior design of the building includes an antique Amish barn frame originally from Ohio, dated at around 1899. Traditional (and mostly original) wooden pegs were used in the restoration and re-erection process. In an effort to facilitate energy and resource efficiency, salvaged building materials were utilized whenever possible. Packing peanuts insulate the concrete block, insulation sheets came from a torn down elementary school, and oak trim was cut from reclaimed flooring.
The new design elements of the building include passive solar design principles as well as dimmable fluorescent lighting to promote energy efficiency. Durable metal roofing should easily last 50 years and non-toxic colored concrete creates a resilient and long-lasting floor surface.
Stop by and visit us if you are in the area! And make sure to take home something special from Bayfield.
